Baby Rubber Boas

Got out of class early this morning and had a feeling that the weather was good for snakes. About 68F in SF. First went to my racer spot about 15 minutes outside of school. Nothing but a few ensantinas. Wanting to find some snakes, I headed further south. Well, at about noon, the temps were about 72...

Re: Italian Wall Lizards Have Invaded San Pedro

Those Hemi's are sure resilient...I have a feeling that any given warmer than usual winter will ensure their survival outdoors here in SF...right next to the Soft Shells in Stow Lake and Spreckles Lake (I do love walking over there from my house and seeing some soft shells cruising through shallow ...

Re: Italian Wall Lizards Have Invaded San Pedro

Speaking of invasive house geckos in SF...the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park apparently has released a sizable number of Hemi's to combat some pest insect they were having in their greenhouses.... I wonder when I'll see some in the park haha They did that close to ten years ago, too. I...

Richard, Thanks for the information. It was just puzzling to see two boas, especially a large, robust female, when it was really hot and dry. Funny enough, speaking of the tissue sample scar, in one of my pics, you may notice a black scar on the ventral-underside of the female...I wonder if that one...

I live in SF and your best bet is to go outside of the city to look for herps. Recently, like 1 week ago, I went to one of my spots 30 minutes south of the city and really did not have too much luck. Gophers and garters were still under AC/boards, but that seems to be it for now, as it seems a lot o...

lampropeltis species name questions

Upon reading a previous thread about the speckled king and the notion about L.getula californiae now being called L.californiae, I just wanted to know if any other species of Lamps have changed. I think zonata are now considered a single species with Northen and Southern clades, rather then ssp., bu...
