Re: How do you keep your herping organized?

Here's a handy online place to record all of your finds http://www.naherp.com/ Yeah. I'm already a member. What i'm wanting is more of how you keep records for your personal use, not the online database. Basically, what you would refer to if you were about enter records into that database. And reco...

How do you keep your herping organized?

I am fairly new to herping, and I have posted some of my finds, and I am learning quickly that if I am going to keep doing this stuff it would be a good idea to try and get organized. Any recommendations on how I should start a life list, on the computer (of course) - is there a good way to organize...

Re: It's just around the corner...

That tire shot is awesome, funny how things happen like that. Unfortunately for my area it's about to get real cold, salamanders will be about the only thing worth looking for. Good luck!

My first year of herping in North Alabama (August-Present)

Well, I got into the herping scene just this year, and here are my finds (since I started taking pics) from this year. I'll try to go in chronological order, I have only been herping since July, but I have been gung ho. Some of these have already been posted in the southeast chapter, but I figure i'...

Looks like you picked up a shot of bigfoots glowing eyes in your 7th pic.

In the second to last pic that dog looks like it got cold...or was it hiding from gators?

It was a great weekend! Even though I missed Saturday, and we missed out on seeing two Canebrakes that like their holes. Big thanks to Josh for organizing everything!

Re: Cold Weather in South...What does it do to Herping?

We found several species on the chapter outing, and it was pretty cold most of the time.

2 Black Kingsnakes, 2 Canebrake Rattlesnakes, and a Rat Snake

Several salamanders, frogs, lizards, etc.

The best herping was done between the hours of 12-4(snakes) and at night(salamanders)

Which time of year were these seen? Also, in the Huntsville area there is not really any "edge" habitat that is on public land, that I personally know of.

Re: New member and North Alabama Herps

New member and North Alabama Herps

First off a little introduction -- im in the north alabama (Huntsville) area and my name is Matt. I'm 22 years old. I've always been into reptiles ever since I was a little kid and grew up watching Steve Irwin :D. Most of my life I wasn't aware that there were as many snakes in my area as there are,...
