Re: Request for Information (gear junkies enter)...
How do you feel about an infrared temp gun? I enjoy being able to ping the ground temp, it's immediate, and I would imagine- more relevant than ambient temp. That's my vote. If you do get a nice probe thermometer, the next question is: Where is the best location for it? I notice my car's thermomete...

In no way top of the line, but I'd probably just get one of those indoor/outdoor thermometers (~$10 at walmart) that has a sensor you put outside. Just epoxy the sensor to the inside of your back bumper or something, and call it good. :) If you keep captives, they work great for keeping track of yo...

Request for Information (gear junkies enter)...
Hello Folks.
I recent purchased a herping vehicle (1991 Toyota FJ80) and unfortunately it doesn't have a thermometer for measuring the temps outside. Does anyone know of a "top of the line" and proven brand or specific thermometer that I can hook up to my truck? Thanks,
Chad

I'm trying to get a feel for what really matters, temp wise, in terms of herps moving: Average temp for the day, low temp, high temp... we're at that funky time of year where days can get decently warm (mid 60s) but nights are still in the 20s sometimes--it's weather I'd expect to see at least some...

Jonathon, you make some excellent points. In my opinion any and all flipping is habitat alteration. Even if you're flipping a board- lifting it has effects on the state of the microhabitat beneath it and after it's been replaced. In this sense habitat and micro-habitat are interchangeable. Damage to the habitat occurs when the alteration ta...

Personally I think this is an opportunity to discuss what it means to spread NAFHA internationally. It doesn't seem like "chapter" adequately covers it. There needs to be a national president with sub-chapters if you ask me. It seems like between you two there'd be a lot of herper contact ...
