Must see an Eastern Diamondback this year.. a Scarlet Kingsnake, and both Milk snake species found in my area..

Haven't seen much from Maryland that I can remember, and definitely northern Lousiana. Also, i've seen a few posts from Mississippi, but not many. And Central/North Alabama... hopefully this year I can get on that :)

As far as for what im going to buy myself (you know you have to get something for yourself every year :D) -- ill be buying a handheld GPS unit, for hiking, herping, etc etc. It will come especially in handy when traveling places, for helping friends who visit the same areas with spots and being able...

I'm looking to purchase a Christmas gift for myself, and there are so many brands/models I have no idea which to pick. I'm looking to spend no more than $300 and I want it to be able to save waypoints, etc for spots I find herping, that can eventually be loaded/saved onto google earth. What y'all go...

Ugh I agree with some of what you're saying and my point is this. Too many people think they know something, but they don't. I've seen dens facing other than SW, I've seen them shady. One I know is being studied by University of Tenn. is completely covered by canopy and doesn't face South or West, ...

They look exactly like the horridus (Canebrakes) found in south alabama/mississippi/georgia. Why? I have no idea. But I agree that there is a pretty distinct difference visually at least. I still think they should be considered subspecies. I bet I could post 12 or more snakes that you couldn't tell...

I'll just throw this out there, the horridus in the area where I live, Central North Alabama, are found in mountainous habitat with lots of limestone rock/forested areas, and they look nothing like (timbers) horridus (yellow/black phase) found ...
