Hey guys I went out hiking today and, although it wasn't a herping trip, I got a few nice finds. I might be wrong but I'm hoping the toadlet is an Arroyo.
There were tons of these swimming around

Yes, looks like Arroyo Toads and a Bullfrog Tadpole. Pretty cool hike.

there's only one place in the Victor Valley area where Arroyos can be found... and yeah... looks like you were there. One way to tell for sure is... arroyos do not walk... they only hop. Nice collie, too... jim

Yeah I was there. The trail around there is my favorite place to hike. I was excited to see them even though there were only a few. A little bummed to see the bullfrog tadpoles though...

Yeah... I'm real concerned about the amount of Bulls there, but the Arroyo pop seems to be holding steady (I survey every year)
Was that toadlet YOY? seems too early. how big? Typically they are only diurnal their 1st season... cool find! jim

Yeah it was YOY. It was pretty small. I would say it was bigger than a quarter but not by much. Its been a relatively warm winter though.

Nawww... yoy would be the size of a pea... full grown they're only about the size of a golf ball (from what I've seen)... they DO grow fast, but that had to be a yearling (born last summer/fall) jim
