Texas field guides

Post by BryanZ »

Hello,

I am thinking of passing through Texas on I-10 (yes I'm taking the longest possible route through Texas) on my way home to Colorado from Florida around the first week of August and I'd like to get in a little herping if I can. I'm wondering what field guides for Texas reptiles & amphibians you recommend. I only have Texas Snakes by Dixon.

Thanks for your time,
Bryan

Bryan

The Hibbitts's have recently produced excellent field guides to lizards and amphibians....

relatively inexpensive and well done.

And the Hibbitt's Turtles and Crocodilans book is out now as well - http://utpress.utexas.edu/index.php/boo ... ocodilians

Between the Hibbitts books and Werler and Dixon's Texas Snakes book, Texas is pretty well covered for now.
