Greetings All
I decided to start a new contest for anyone who herps in the great state of Arizona!
Its not a huge prize, its not a free trip if you win.
I thought it would be a nice thing to hang on your wall.
"I Herped All Arizona Counties" Certificate (design pending).
To qualify, here are the rules ...
1. Only one herp is needed for each county.
2. Herps must all be found during the calendar year of 2013 (jan 1 2013 to Dec 31 2013)
3. Each herp must be photo vouchered.
4. Data collected for each herp MUST be entered into the database.
5. While DOR's are important, they will NOT count for this contest ( I want you to get out of
your cars and go search!)
6.To claim your certificate, include the naherp.com database record number so that I can
confirm your entries.
7. Send a check, or money order for $2 to cover postage and the cost of the envelope (I want
to ship these flat so they will look nice). If the cost is less I will post a new price. I will
provide you an address to send it to when you have completed your entry.
Good luck everyone!
Dave Weber

Re: New Contest for those who Herp Arizona
Arizona counties? Heck you could probably herp all of those in one day!...ok, maybe two days.
Come herp all the 234 Texas counties in one year and we'll get you a trip as a prize....right to the poorhouse for all the gas it would take!
Great idea BD, just poking fun at your little state with all its big counties.
It might be fun to see if someone can enter 15 different taxa from each of the 15 counties in AZ in one year. Should be pretty easy to do.

Both counties??
Re: New Contest for those who Herp Arizona
All three counties.. But hey it takes hours to get through each county.. LOL
I think the smaller counties makes if fun to herp the different counties, and I wish we had that here. I have to cross the border (Mex) or drive 8+ hours to get any where close to a county record these days. .

90 herps a guesstimate... probably more and not counting invasives.chrish wrote:San Bernadino County, CA - 20,000 square miles, 90 herpshellihooks wrote:It would take me like 4-5 days to herp the Co I live in... bigger than some states, with like 90 herps... jim

"What part of Texas did you say you was from, M'am?" (old joke bout everything being bigger in Texas) jim

It is still a lot, either way. IIRC, there are some counties on the SC/GA border that have over 100 species.hellihooks wrote:90 herps a guesstimate... probably more and not counting invasives.chrish wrote:San Bernadino County, CA - 20,000 square miles, 90 herpshellihooks wrote:It would take me like 4-5 days to herp the Co I live in... bigger than some states, with like 90 herps... jim

And the database shows 80 species for Mobile County, AL.
Miami-Dade might have 100 species as well, but probably only half of those are native.
