I tacked this on to another thread, so incase anyone missed it, here was my reasoning.
I use this designation for amphibians alot in my notes and think it is a better descriptor than YoY.

Stupid Question I have been meaning to ask....someone please define a YoY. Is it yearling or younger?

I believe it means either "Year of Young" or "Year or Younger" - I use it to mean the latter.

I think it actually means "young of year."

But wouldnt young of year be the same as neonate?

I believe "neonate" refers to animals that just hatched, less than 3 or 4 weeks old.
