Article on Reptile/Rodent Breeders

Of course, you can't write an attention-getting story about all the people who do it the right way--this one portrays herpetoculturists/rodent breeders as pot-smoking, animal-abusing, lawbreaking opportunists.

They're not? :-)

I visited a chap here in Kuching last Saturday who was the Malaysian mirror image of the "Jason" mentioned here, minus the commercial aspect. And he topped the whole "apartment zoo" thing by renting an entire apartment exclusively for his animals. He himself lives in the apartment next door. His mouse farm room also housed a slow loris, and I really should have taken a picture of his door curtain furnished from snake skins. He doesn't make money from his mouse farm, he breeds them only for his herps. He also doesn't sell any of his animals, he's just a crazy collector. In real life, he's a pharm rep. But the rest of the setup was just like Jason's :-)
