Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has owned or has the Nikon D2Xs?

How would this camera stand up to say the Nikon D7000. I have read multiple reviews on the D2Xs and it seems like you get a lot of camera for £650 pre-owned here in England.

Any help and advice is welcome!!

Regards
Marcus

It was a phenomenal camera in it's day. I would think the D7000 would produce the same image quality though, with better ISO capabilties, at more megapixels and weight much less. The D2Xs probably has a faster FPS, which isn't huge for herps. It doesn't have an on camera flash and it's probably harder to find batteries and accessories these days. It is 6 year old technology. It was the flagship in it's day, but I would skip it these days...

I agree w/ Jason 100%

In it's day it was the bomb, but anymore, you can get the same bells and whistles for a lot cheaper. Also, used ones tend to have tons of actuations.

Thankyou both for your advice! I am still very tempted I can't find anything that even comes close in that price bracket.

What would you guys recommend instead of the D2Xs???

I believe with a decent lens this camera will do everything I want and need from it.

Give this a read. I'm not always in total agreement with Mr. Rockwell, but he does point out a lot of good info here. In his summary at the end he names a couple of possible alternatives to this model also. I have the D300s and love it - perhaps you could find a used one for a price in your range? Good luck in your quest!

You are right. That camera will take great shots with a good lens. It is also probably very well used (tons of actuations), heavy and will have subpar ISO capabilties compared to the current sensors. I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money for that old of a camera. That camera was probably $3000 or $4000 when it came out, there is a reason they have discounted it so much. Isn't the D7000 just at $1100 US? That should be pretty close to 650. If that is still too much, you could look into the D5000, which has the same sensor as the D7000 but with a few less bells and whistles.

What do you want in terms of features from a D2Xs that the D7000 won't give you?
