It's definitely a cool concept, but the shot doesn't quite work for me as posted. I think if you made the moon a bit smaller, blurred it just a tad and moved it further up towards the upper right corner it would be more impactful. I also think you might consider toning down the flash highlights a bit.

Neat idea...especially using a "night" snake. One thing that does not quite work for me is that the angle of illumination makes it clear that the moon is not the source. Possibly one way to address this is to position an off-camera flash above and to the left of the snake to mirror the general angle of incoming moonlight, and then to use a second off-camera flash at lower right set at much lower power to provide some illumination to the shadow side of the snake. Fun stuff for sure. Thanks for sharing the idea.

Cheers,

BH

It's certainly innovative, very cool and better than I can do. I think with a little tweaking it wouldn't look contrived or put together.

Blurring the moon so it appears out of focus (but still recognizable as the moon) may help.

Still a bit away from where it needs to be, but after a bit of tweaking:

I've looked at it scrolled away, and back and forth a few times. I like the tweaked version much better.
