For the Stebbins books, how "west" is "west?" Is TX included? I don't have my current guides handy with which to compare.

Neither of the two guides cover Texas. But if the species is found in a neighboring such as New Mexico then its whole range is shown on the range map.

I'll take the '66 Stebbins, I bought mine in 1960 so it must have been a '54 and has since been lost. PM me for payment details. Thanks, Art

Pat, do you still have the Wright & Wright set? If so, can I get 'em from you at the March HHS meeting?

thanks, Mike

That's an Arizona Mountain kingsnake (Lampropeltis p. pyromelana) on the cover of the Clifford H. Pope book. That specimen has quite a few black "crossovers"
that leave thin red conical shaped markings on the side known in the hobby as "flames". That is how they got their Latin name "pyromelana" in the first place which literally means fire red and black. :)

Awesome books man!

Here's a photo by Troy Hibbits that looks very similar.

I will bring them along. I better set it by the door now so I don't forget.

Nice king. Hopefully I will get to see one in the wild someday.
