Venomous Reptiles of the US, Canada, & N. Mexico: Crotalus

Post by Norman D »

Has anyone bought this book? How is it compared to some of the other rattlesnake books/guides out there?

I have the first edition which is a great book and when I was younger I relished it. The Southwest is considered an exotic locale to a flatlander. As a young kid this book was packed with information and pictures that really whetted my appetite to herp out West. I am on the fence about the new version but I'm going to assume it's worth the money. Ernst does a really good job on his books.

I also had the earlier edition which I purchased super cheap. The new edition is a lot bigger and I imagine lots of color photos. Just wondering if anyone has picked it up and what they think about it

The book is not bad, and I really like the inclusion of the northern Mexican stuff, but the range maps are terrible.

Thanks Tim for the response! Maybe, I will wait until some used books pop up at a discounted price
