Some really lovely textures here. Care to share your camera and lighting set-up?

Top shelf macro work!! I love invertebrates as much as herps and other verts. Any idea what the little guy is on this invert's back? Almost looks like one of the parasitic wasp species, but don't they usually prey on the larvae?

John,

Yes, the parasitic wasp usually prey on the larvae.
The little guy on the moth's back looks like some sort of fruit fly, but I am not quite sure.
The moth is about 2 inches long by the way.

Bart,

I am using a 100mm macro len. Pretty easy to use.

man, all the more reason for me to get off my rear and snag 1-2 more Nikon speedlights. I love my SB-800, but I can greatly see how I could further my flash photos through your shots. Love the macro work, only wish I was as patient. Unfortunately, when herping with friends they'd rather be looking for additional stuff than focusing on the photographic work. Though I agree, it's also nice to take the time and genuinely capture the beauty of the animal.

Marvelous macro shots. Nice variety.

I love snakes - and I love good snake shots. And your pictures are really great!

Bernd

PS: And thank you for sharing your sample for flash position. I thought something like this but I was not sure.
