Instead of 15 migration threads... lets have the particulars, numbers and pics in one thread? Just a thought.

In our section of the road last night in Upper Bucks County, we had 34 spotted salamanders, 20 Wood Frogs, 8 DOR Wood Frogs, 4 DOR Spotted Salamanders. I was road cruising with Doug W. This was over a 4 plus hour period, and it seemed pretty even throughout. Ventured to a few other sections myself when we were done and found a Four-toed Salamander (when I was the last one there at 1:20AM) and a Spring Peeper earlier (with assist from Kyle on Peeper as he was leaving). Here's just a few photos..(I decided not to post any spotted salamanders since I already have)

Millside- you have to open up the photo full size (i.e. not just in photostream- right click and choose view med, large, etc.) and then right click and copy img info. Pain in the butt but at least you still own your photo rights when using flickr.

Here's another shot of the freak- you can blame me for Kyle not keeping it :P

Kyle- good to finally meet you!

Hope everyone is having fun this year- be sure to bleach your waders and don't F around in the ponds!

what is that freak of nature, kind of a cross between a spotted, pacific giant, blotched tiger and a few others in there.

Kyle/Will... That crazy spottie looks like a female. Yes/nay? If so, I don't recall seeing a single female on Wednesday. Then again, I didn't pay very close attention, but it was definitely male dominated.

That funky spotted looks like a pigment anomoly, e.g. 'piebald' etc.... Was this ruled out, if so why Kyle?

Was definitely subdermal, hindsight is 20/20 but I should have turned it over to those smarter than I. Opinions have been varying. The location has been shared with DNR for them to investigate further and do more sampling. I do agree that it looks like a pigment anomaly and not fungus.

Take away the spots and it kinda looks like the one I found. But that one was as robust as any I have found.

Is that not P. hoffmani?

A massive (300+ home) development is being built on one of my old stomping grounds :'( I've decided that the herps deserve a chance to live so I'm finding them and moving them across the street to a local park (which is relatively large). Found a Big American toad, 2 Five lined skinks and a 4 Toed salamander (not a lifer but on my list of things to find in 2012 :thumb: )! Also heard a million and one peepers.

It was found outside of their known range. Everytime I find a red back with a long tail and shiny skin that thought always crosses my mind.

Same here dude. I've found so many leadbacks that I once thought one was a silvery, a jefferson, and a slimy. Those dang things drive me crazy :x .

The American Toads were moving last week near me, but the recent cold snap has stopped that.

Only shot I got of one as I moved it off a busy road.

Haha, yeah I happened upon it last week (after doing some herping along the tracks) and walked the road for a bit. Quite a few toads crossing, I was only there maybe 15 mins and I saw 7 or so along with a frog of some sort but didn't get a chance to get close enough to it. I'm sure there are a few snakes and other herps that follow them too. I actually live out in Conshohocken, but nothing doing much crossing out by me =).

We have to find you a redback, a jeff, and a slimy and put them all side by side. You will never make that mistake again. They are like apples to oranges. :P

There may be one on Google Images. I'm the newbie with salamanders, so sometimes for me its like Apples to Apples (but sometimes it can be Apples to Granny Smith Apples). ;) . One of these days, i'll learn.
