June Species Count
Please use this thread to record all species observed or heard in the field during the month of June.
This is to be used as a general list and no photos should be included here. Save the photos for your topics, and more importantly for your database entries.
*REMEMBER: It is our duty as members of N.A.F.H.A. to record all of our finds at http://www.naherp.com.
Be as specific as you feel you need to be in these lists, but please do not be more detailed with specific locales than a county.
When entering your records in the database, the quantity should match the number depicted in the photos.
Thanks

Re: June Species Count
Does the data that I send to MARA get incorporated into the NAHERP database or is it something entirely different?
Re: June Species Count
Two different things. The NAHERP database is here http://www.naherp.com. Data submission is open ended for anywhere in North America. In NAHERP you hold the rights to your data. If an agency or person requests your data, you have the final say whether your data will be released to them. MARA (Maryland amphibian and reptile atlas) is one example of an agency that might be interested in NAHERP data. However, MARA has not made a specific request for the data in the NAHERP database. NAFHA members have been assisting with MARA and submitting their data independently and separately from the NAHERP database.Kyle from Carolina wrote:Does the data that I send to MARA get incorporated into the NAHERP database or is it something entirely different?
If you would like to contribute to MARA you need to contact a county coordinator (which I am one). Unfortunately submitting data is not as easy as signing up on line and entering data like with NAHERP.

Re: June Species Count
Hey Spinifer, I've been submitting data to Andy over in Calvert all this year although I do have some worcester county sightings that he wants me to send to one of the county coordinator's over there. He gave me the contact info already and I'm not sure if you're one of them but if you get an email sometime this week from me then I guess you were on of the emails he gave me. As for the NAHERP database, I'll probably start doing that soon. Hopefully they will accept backlogged data all the way back from February. Thanks though for the clarification!
Re: June Species Count
NAHERP accepts backlogged data back to 1912. Backlogged data is also fine for MARA back to 2010. I'll send a PM about the rest.
