Re: A Melancholy Subject...
Okay, not so much a pun as satire/commentary. One day I was perusing FHF and commenting to a mate that the little copyright watermarks on photos were getting bigger and bigger, and it seemed that there was an inverse relationship between photo quality and watermark size, so I decided to mock one up and post it as a commentary. Never got around to it.

Then I got serious

Re: A Melancholy Subject...
You guys, these are great....
As much as I love puns (especially with coffee), the best I could come up with was to resurrect a true story on a trip to AZ.
We came upon this "hernandesi" crying its eyes out because every now and then a huge gust of wind would pick up and blow its dinner away.
I asked it why it was crying.
It actually started singing to the toon of Dylan's "Blowin' in the wind":
.... The ants are my friends, they're blowin' in the wind..
.....The ants are just blowin' in the wind...
I didn't catch what was offensive, Jim. I thought it was creative????Can't believe someone found a lizard on a piece of melon offensive...

Yeah, I love the ones that are so bad you can barely tell what it is. Like NG is gonna rip it off or somethingcrocdoc wrote:it seemed that there was an inverse relationship between photo quality and watermark size

What was the original comment? I remembered reading it and thinking the same thing, but then thought he/she may have been "punning" themselves. Anyway, put it back up. I'm not offended.hellihooks wrote: Can't believe someone found a lizard on a piece of melon offensive...

Re: A Melancholy Subject...
I didn't pull it... but ya know what... no big deal. I make up bad puns every day... There was no caption, cept the Title... but if I were to write a caption; "When I'm sad, taking a few melancholy pics always cheers me up!"brick911 wrote:What was the original comment? Bill... that's HILARIOUS!!! Reminds me of that old "Dinosaurs' episode about vegetarianism, where they had a dinosaur doing a Dylan take-off by singing " All we are saaaaying... Is give peas a chance..." jim
BTW... if you want 'politically incorrect'... check out my 'rosy joke' on the rosy forum... now THAT was bad...
Re: A Melancholy Subject...
I figured the person that called it bad taste was just making a pun too... taste.... mellon....
The watermark thing was awesome btw. So true.
Anyways, Jim, have you seen the new Batman Trailer?

I love the batman trailer!
Years ago my brother, sister-in-law and I were driving through rural Queensland in the rain when we noticed the funny company name on the back doors of a truck well ahead of us. In Australia, professional movers are called 'removalists' and it seems this company wanted to let the world know that they moved everything, so they called themselves Car'n'all Removals. One 'L' away from a sex-change operation. I tried to catch up to the truck so that my brother could get a photo, but it we couldn't get anything worthwhile because of the downpour.

Y'all wanna see the chain king I found?
You can tell it's a king, on account of the crown!
Also, this wood turtle:
I had posted these on one of the earlier field-herpin' forums back in '03, but thanks to this thread I can give them new life.

Re: A Melancholy Subject...
Once, I was delighted to find a plaster of paris model of a coiled viper for sale in a store. I got out a field guide and painted it exactly like our locale of Copperheads and put it next to my cabin steps as a joke. A man friend came over but I was not home and he spied the coiled copperhead next to my stairs. He went to get is snake hook. It was not in his truck so hunted around for a stick to pin it. Of course, with the stick he discovered it was a fake and, amped up on adrenaline, threw it into the pond.
