Yesterday, I went on a nice little field trip with a few people from the forum to a few different spots. It was my first outing with anyone else but my friends and family, and I loved what we saw...
my first find of the day was a nice bullfrog

the second was a beautiful and very dark little prairie rattler

the second rattler was my third herp of the day, and it was a little larger than the first

we moved on to a new spot after that, and soon found another bullfrog of which I did not photograph
I was following a couple guys who seemed to be having good luck with W. yellow-belly racers, although they had not yet
caught one. I started to flip logs and stuff, hoping for a lifer yellow-belly, but had no luck...until BAM! I found a log untouched with a perfect entrance and exit. and her's what lay under it...
Lifer Yellow-Belly Racer, Juvenile:

he did a little belly-flip for me, soon before bolting into the log

meanwhile, Tim (TimCO) had tracked down two targets for the trip- one of which was a lifer for mwah.

Lifer Red-Sided Garter snake!

he also got a Big, Beautiful, Bullsnake

the last find at that locale was this beautiful little W. yellow-bellied racer. she's pretty, huh?

we left that place, to go in search of milks...hehe, another lifer for me

and guess what Joe Farah pulled out from under a rock?

Lifer Milk snake!

next up was a lifer Black-Headed snake

it wasn't long until someone plucked another, more colorful one from the ground

another racer was also found, but I didn't get pics
not long after the milk snake discovery, a woman came down the trail saying she saw a young, possibly injured prairie rattler a little ways down. some people bolted towards the locale, while others didn't take much interest in it. in my opinion, she was the best looking rattler I've ever seen, although I haven't seen many.

and now, quite possibly the best picture I've ever taken

the last snake of the day was a big, grumpy, crotalus viridis

and finally, a nice pic of Joe and the 3rd rattler

total species found yesterday were:
5 Crotalus Viridis
3 W. yellow-bellied racers
1 Red-Sided Garter snake
1 Milk snake
1 dead painted turtle?
Several Bullfrogs
2 Bullsnakes
1 unidentified turtle found by Jake
2 Tantilla
please correct me if I missed one or two
thanks for lookin,
-Ian
