I am headed to Lake Tahoe and would like to photograph some herps. I am from Socal so anything unique to the Tahoe area would be cool. Also, I do not mind stopping along the way. I am thinking of taking the 395 so anything along the way would work.
Thanks!

Try looking at the rock outcroppings along 395, I've seen striped whipsnakes and great basin rattlers as well as lots of different lizards out there. good luck!

Thanks. I remember seen huge lizards on some of the smaller boulders and fence posts as I drove along the 395. They look like Texas Spiny sized lizards but I never got close enough. Do you have any idea about what I may see?
