I thought I'd share a few photos from our California Tiger Salamander Workshop we hosted today through the Coastal Training Program at the Elkhorn Slough Reserve, where I am the manager.
After a full day of classroom presentations regarding the natural history of this species, it was field time.
Class participants learning how to dip for larvae.
A successful dip.
A very productive stock pond.
A pair of larva.
Learning seining techniques
The one on the left is a Western Toad larva and the two on the right are Chorus Frogs.
Dipping with a view.
A surprise Red-legged Frog
A lone newt found in the pond.
A pair of Blue Milkweed Beetles, Chrysochus cobaltinus
The sun setting over the hill.
The end of a good day. Good to get away from the computer for a day.
Thanks for looking.
Dave

Re: California Tiger Salamander workshop
That looks like a ton of fun!
The salamanders and newt were my favorites, but I think that frog was up to no good

Very cool Excellent photos displaying the process of the workshop! I enjoyed the balance, color, and clearity! I like the shots of the larvae in the nets as well Nice post
