Rocky Mountain NAFHA/COPARC Field Trip July 13-15 *Updated*

Post by TimCO »

Well, the last trip was such a success we had to do another one. The Rocky Mountain NAFHA chapter and COPARC will be heading to southeast Colorado July 13-15 for an action packed weekend. Road cruising at night, field hunting and the mandatory ice cream during the day. Rendezvous at the McDonalds in La Junta at 8pm friday night, or meet us in the campground at Vogel Canyon in Otero County during the day Saturday. Camping will be primitive, and is guaranteed to be awesome. Please PM me with any questions or if you would like to carpool.

I think I can make this one, but only if you promise me we'll see a viridis. I might just die if we don't see one. The longnose snakes can stay home though :-)

Dude, I'm already stoked! That is if I can go  I'll beg my parents but I guess we'll see... I'm sure it will be great either way.

Interesting to read some of the comments from this report. According to my data, a few changes are in order on some of those species. ;)

You're right, there has been a lot of new data collected (mostly by you) in the last 15 years that has expanded our understanding of this area.

I've scribbled down a few notes over the years, but as a core group of herpers, I think we've done a great job of "surveying" that area.

Time to start working the NE quadrant! Lots of places to go and roads to cruise.

I think all four corners of the state could stand some more exploration.

An awesome weekend in Otero is shaping up with this storm followed by a warm up.
Grab your camera and flashight and we'll find some of Colorado's rarest herps. Meet in the McDonalds parking lot in La Junta at 8pm Friday evening. If you can't come down until Saturday, PM me for meetup info.
