If you stopped watching AP they want to know that too. Lost viewership = lost revenue.
Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
they have now received my thoughts. thanks for posting the link.
Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
Thanks for posting this. I sincerely hope AP takes it off the air.

I left one too, but I guess they didn't approve it. All I did was compare them to a Sewage Treatment Plant and said the Sewage Facility would have higher standards and less sh*t...Huh...guess that was too strong...oh well...

This show makes me sick. Shows you all they care about is money.
Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
the 210 comments at time of posting seem to be entirely in protest of the show. Hope they are getting two messages:
1. this type of show is unacceptable; and
2. lots of people care about snakes ergo a good show about snakes would have a market.

Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
Animal Planet is terrible. They give animals and people who keep animals a bad rep more than anything. That show is terrible, too along with a lot of other shows. I dont see how a network dedicated to animals would have a show like that or belittle countless types of animals. I refuse to watch it even though I dont watch much TV anyway.

Okay, so I'm not the only one who kindof cursed the Tweettwat AP editors out. I feel better now that I know I wasn't being extreme.Brian Hubbs wrote:I left one too, but I guess they didn't approve it. I heard somewhere Animal Planet was run by PETA/HSUS people now. Is that true or just rumor?

They dont even care about them. They just care about money, stupid advertisements and killing nearly every animal they "rescue" so they dont have to spend money on them before they can adopt them out.
Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
This was my comment, but it was also deleted...
''Where have all the shows teaching about ecology, conservation, biology, etc. gone.
Now, all we get is these brainwashing, brainless entertainment shows showcasing sensationalism and stupid rednecks... You can do better than this AP, you have the power to educate in a good way, use it!
Or else, you could use a new punchline : AP, making the population stupid one show at a time.''
Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
Gave them a piece of my mind. Can't stand this crap anymore.
Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
That's why I haven't watched the idiot box since november '10. Besides anyone can do all that tv can offer, and more on a computer.DracoRJC wrote:Gave them a piece of my mind. Can't stand this crap anymore.

Well, score one for the snakes at least - http://hcnews.com/pages/archive/page_on ... snakebite/
I would say too bad he survived, but then again maybe not. I wonder if he will still be on the show next season with his missing limb?

As a college biology/zoology instructor, I go out of my way to teach my students about sensationalization in today's supposed "widlife documentaries". The only organization actively futhering true awareness of biodiversity on our planet is the BBC through their "Life of", "Life", and "Planet" series. Animal Planet, and the Discovery channel have devolved into mindless sensationalization that not only damages public opinion on the state of conservation efforts, but also needlessly fosters an element of fear in viewers when no apprehension towards the animals are necessary. Because of shows like Rattlesnake Republic, River Monsters, Gator Boys, and whatever that Turtle show is, I actively encourage a boycott of the aforementioned networks to all my friends, colleagues, and students. In the days of rampant climate change, urbanization, and catastrophic pollution, misinformation supercedes all of these in their negative effects on wild populations of animals, and Animal Planet is the king of misinformation. Here is a direct quote from the show in question. "Snakes use smell to mark their territory. The stronger the smell, the more snakes there are in the area." Amazingly false on all levels. I understand the mindless state of the "honey boo boo" demographic, and a network's supposed desire to harness it, but there are many of us out there who genuinely enjoyed the educational programming in which these networks are rooted. A return to this state is highly encouraged.

i'd love to give them feedback, but i must be stupid, so i can't figure out how to do it. any help? i went to the comment spot at the bottom, but it wouldn't allow me to comment.
by the way, if we all comment, some higher-up in NAFHA might be able to contact them and get us some publicity. just a thought.

Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
thanks dery. most "common folk"(no disrespect intended), don't understand the implications of over-harvest, poaching, wanton killing, and most importantly, habitat fragmentation. it would be cool to get it out to the public how detrimental human activities are to the overall health of the ecosystem, which we are part of, and our survival depends on.dery wrote:Great idea Ben!!!muskiemagnet wrote:i'd love to give them feedback, but i must be stupid, so i can't figure out how to do it. any help? i went to the comment spot at the bottom, but it wouldn't allow me to comment.

Re: Animal Planet wants your opinion on Rattlesnake Republic
Surprisingly human.
What kind of saying is that for an animal television channel? Too bad about every station is doing this now.
Like everyone else, I can't stand the programs they run. They do nothing but spark a brain with some exaggerated action once an episode. You come away with nothing. Can't stand it and I wont buy into it.

Suprisingly stupid is the best moto for Tv in general. So atleast AP was close to a perfect moto for their channel.I'll definately give them credit for that.BDSkinner wrote:Surprisingly human.
