All with the MP-E65 1x - 5x macro lens, except the paradise tree snake, which was photographed with a 150mm macro lens.

Cosmos Almighty...this shot puts every picture I've ever taken to shame. How do you get your pix so bright and brilliant, and how far away were you from the snake?

Re: Snakes macro
Thanks Hans. I had only the MP-E65 1x-5x macro lens with me at that time so either I used it, or no photos. That lens won't focus on anything beyond 4 inches from the front of the lens.Hans Breuer (twoton) wrote:Cosmos Almighty...this shot puts every picture I've ever taken to shame. I shot at 1X, i.e 4 inches from front of lens to the viper. Also at 2X, (the 2nd pic), 2.5 inches from front of lens to subject. Shot with full flash, twin flash, handheld, and diffused (http://orionmystery.blogspot.com/2010/1 ... pdate.html).

Re: Snakes macro
No, just one single shot, no HDR, no stacking (for extra depth of field).Hans Breuer (twoton) wrote:Wait...this is an HDR/composite photo?Shot with full flash, twin flash, handheld, and diffused

Re: Snakes macro
I believe you have more than these to share. I remember seeing more of your shots elsewhere.
