Hans Koenig Died

Post by Biker Dave » January 22nd, 2013, 3:09 am

From the SCHR forum ...
It is with a heavy heart that I must report that SWCHR board member Hans Koenig, a friend for a great many years, retired Arizona Game Warden, and a lifelong herper passed away yesterday, Friday, January 18, 2013 after suffering a massive heart attack at work in Salmon, Idaho. He is survived by his wife Heidi, daughter Kristi Bakke, and sons Bill and John. Funeral services will be at the Catholic Church in Salmon, Idaho on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

More information will be posted as it comes available.

That is aweful news. Hans was a great asset to the herping community.

So sad to see this, he was a good man..
I first met him in the Hualapais w/ Brendan
McGraw and had many other occasions to
get together..He even showed me his collection
when he lived in SG..He was a stand-up guy
and not a jerk like so many other G&F officers can be..
I'm real sad to see this..

I too was sad to hear this...even though Hans and I did not see eye to eye on several occasions I still enjoyed talking to him. I wish I had been able to know him a little better...

I recall exchanging a good number of posts with Hans on the Kingsnake fieldherp forum many years ago. That as an active wildlife game warden coming on to post on the Kingsnake forum was pretty darn unique.

Does anyone know how old was Hans?
