Since we are introducing babies on the forum...

Post by Berkeley Boone »

I am INCREDIBLY pleased to announce that my wife and I just welcomed our little girl to the world. Avonlee Abigail, 7 lbs 14 oz of bright eyed fun!

We did not find out the gender until she arrived. Many of my co-workers have asked if I am now going to re-think how I raise and play with her. I told them she will get just as dirty and have just as much outdoor fun as any son I would have!

I look forward to getting to take her out on adventures with us now. Matt K is already working on that lifer canebrake for her in the next few months.

She's gorgeous! We waited on discovering the sex as well. Much more fun that way, I think. I'll be looking forward to seeing her in your future posts.

I feel like I'm in great company as I have a 2.5 and 1 year old larvae. I'll be raising them with an appreciation for nature. My oldest boy knows every animal in most books he sees already, and is very happy to tell anyone who will listen what they are. He asks me almost everyday if we can go in the woods and find animals. He also asked if one of the snakes can be his. He picked out a Mexican Rosy Boa.

Big Congrats, again, Berk.
She will change your life for the better.
She looks like a keeper! :) :)

my co-workers have asked if I am now going to re-think how I raise and play with her.
Babies don't come with a manual; everyone is an expert: friends, family, even strangers.
Listen politely, then, follow your instincts, even to my advice!

My advice comes from Peter Berg, who has four of the most amazing, well behaved polite and courteous kids I've ever seen. He said besides them having an amazing mother, he talks to them with respect like they're people only smaller. Not like they're a dog, or something. Just talk to her like you would want to be talked to, and she'll act that way too. It's working on my oldest so far, he's good at please and thank you etc. The youngest is still learning what No means, I think he might think that it's his name right now...

That reminds me of an old Bill Cosby joke.

Congrats on the baby! Can't wait for future posts :thumb:

Thanks all!

Yes, Dan, she is! I saw your little girl in Michael's post- she is a cutie as well!

Thanks Sam!

Thanks Michael. We had a lot of fun waiting to find out what she was going to be. Friends threatened bodily harm, but man, it was quite exciting getting to make the announcement in the delivery room!

Thanks Carl. I do too- I will certainly be posting them.

That's good stuff Justin. I agree, I feel honored to be among the ranks of members here who are parents and can post pics of their kids and their finds. And that advice is pretty sound too.

John and Bill, thanks! I'm looking forward to what she introduces me to in life. I'm not too worried about my coworkers though. I know they are just a little surprised that I plan to take my daughter out in the woods on adventures, I guess it isn't typical 'girl' stuff!

Thank you Dalton!

Thanks again for looking, and for the kind words everyone!
