Finally the Amphibs are moving..

Post by James1617 »

Well the past two days it has been fairly warm out here in Southeastern Ky and I have been hearing frogs chirping but only tonight was I able to get out and look for some..

I hit my uncles pond at about 8 pm and after about 10 minutes of staring at the ground trying to see one that I could hear but couldn't see. I finally found it..

My first Amphibian of 2013..

I am almost 100% sure it's a Northern Spring Peeper..

Couldn't get the best photos ever because I was alone but I got some okay shots..

Now I am looking for my first snake of 2013..

Congrats, glad to see the icy grip of winter may be letting up for some other folks.

Yep, these are always the first frogs of the year to use my kiddy pools around the yard as a breeding pool. I like when the Gray tree frogs show up. That's why I get a lot of snakes in my yard, and even a few that came in my front door.
