Copperhead Fight Club!

Post by Andrew G »

I had an interesting herping experience yesterday. My wife and I observed a pair of copperheads that at the time I thought were mating. After checking with other herpers, it appears that what we saw was not mating but part of a combat dance.

Nice work!! I've found a zillion copperheads, and never have I seen combat, or mating for that matter.

Definitely looks more like combat from your photos.

So cool.

Thanks Guys!

Dan, that is the fun thing about herping, you never know what you are going to see! It is fun to see snakes being active once in a while, instead of the usual basking!

I think those are some of the prettiest snakes, can't wait to see one. Epic find!
