Hey John

I had just learned that you left us for Southern California. If I ever told you that rattlesnakes are dirt in California, now you have seen for yourself. Hablas "Vibora de Cascabel?" Or, "Por favor, tiene ustedes Bogertophis rosaliae?"

Ryan,
He's doing well and just fathered yet another clutch.

Jeff,
I'm at about 70-80 rattlers so far this year, but its hard to call those mitchelli dirt. ;) I'm going back to Baja twice over the summer, so I'll be putting in the hours for Bogertophis.

Thanks Jim. The bimaris was one of my top targets, so I'm glad I got to see one. I'm hoping for vertebralis vertebralis on an upcoming Cape trip, and maybe insulanus one day if research takes me out to Cedros.

Good luck on Cedros!

I scoured that place for days and all I found were specks.

Make sure you get some detailed pics of any lichanura you might find ;)

Right on, bro!

Keep Black Pearl on the Spilotes list!

Scott,
No trip to Cedros is planned yet, but its likely if my project(s) or any other lab members' projects will require further sampling from there. I would be sure to get Lichanura pics, and I'm always happy with more mitchelli. Did you come across many Aspidoscelis?

John,
You know I have you on. Will you be coming to the SD show in July? Assuming incubation goes well, they should be hatching the previous week.

That 1st Phyllorhynchus decurtatus decurtatus image almost looks hypomelanistic.

John,

I was there a long time ago and don't remember if we saw any lizards.

I think we were there early in the year trying to rock flip a lichanura and all we saw were specks.

I remember having a lobster lunch in which I ate 7 or 8 lobster tails until I was FULL.

The natives were very generous with lobster. :)

I had a very old male bimaris, that had gone through several owners, before coming to me. died before I could find a mate, for him...

Nate,
Yeah those Phyllorhynchus from farther south were pretty cool looking.

Scott,
That sounds pretty good. A lobster lunch would make a nice meal before a siesta during the slow parts of the day.

Jeff,
Its been a good season since the majority of the species have been lifers. How has the herping in LA been?

Will,
I'll probably make a post in August after the next two Baja trips. :)

Jim,
That one has some really nice red. Awesome snakes for sure.

Wow, what a great diversity of herps!! Especially considering they're from only a few months.

I really like the saslowi boa - so clean!

The pale coast horned lizard is pretty unique. I noticed it already appears on CaliforniaHerps.com.

The leaf-toed gecko is very cool too. We don't see many of those posted.

I'd love to see a photo of a Gambelia or Crotaphytus if you feel like sharing.

I also noticed there are a couple of species from SD County that you haven't checked off your list yet (e.g. Xantusia henshawi). I'd be glad to share some locales if you're interested. Just shoot me a PM.

Thanks Jeff. I didn't post most of my Phrynosomatidae or Crotaphytidae pictures because the majority are in-hand shots, not in situ or posed. I don't usually have my camera on me or at least easily accessible when noosing. I actually just saw my first few Crotaphytus this past weekend, but I didn't manage to get any pictures. Here is a Gambelia though:

Thanks for the offer, and I'll send a PM.

Thanks for the additional leopard lizard pic! Looks like a decent sized male maybe.

Better luck next time getting the photo of a collared. I hope to get one sometime soon...
