Couple of Pa. days.

Post by kyle loucks »

Couple of days in Pa... Sunday I got soaked and Monday I drove what seemed like a million miles looking for unposted, accessible habitat.
That's the way it goes whern you are in uncharted territory though.
Here are a few pics... no real story.

The green was in a spot last visited about 2 years ago... and about 3 years since the last green was found there.

"unposted, accessible habitat" wow thats so true. I was up your way about two weeks back and it is really hard to find a herpin spot that isn't park land. I went down a road with many homes on it listed as a private road. Seemed odd with so many homes then thought it safe to walk the adjacent power lines with my wife but a very irate and rude (foul mouthed) woman (no lady) approached me stating that the lines we on her land, I was trespassing and to get the F*** off.
Wow. I apologised, didn't realized the lines were on private land, said I meant no harm and would leave imeadiately. This was again answered with more foul words.
I could only be as nice as I could, hold my tongue and go.

The hawk picture is really interesting. It looks to be a Coopers but what is that in its talons? A sparrow hawk?
maybe a grouse but if its another hawk thats really interesting.
Mike.

PS- For the record, I have the areas #1 trout stream running through my backyard. Fisherman have always been welcomed onto my property and all I ask is that no damage is done or trash is left. I still end up picking up trash after kids but that is to be expected.
Doesn't make them bad. And they are always welcome to come back.
Can't say that I'm so nice that I wouldn't send that woman from up north packin if she showed up though ;)

That's a pretty cool shot. It looks like a flicker that he's eating.

I hate that. I always find some awesome looking places and when I get there, I find they are gated or private property. I work on a 1 for 4 ratio. If I think I'll have time to herp 3 different spots, I'll map out 12. But still, I put them near "proven" spots just in case.

Good work loading up the db Kyle!

One WMA I really wanted to visit and travelled about 40 minutes to get there only to find that it was closed to all visitors. There was only one way in too... That really stunk.
