ETA: We may have found the remains of an eastern box turtle nest. There was a dead hatchling too far gone to ID next to a small hole, upon digging we found a few discarded shells that were about the same size, give or take, as snapping turtle eggs but were elliptical, and another very far gone dead hatchling that just fell apart when we dipped it in the water to try to clean it. This was in a spot known for boxies. I hope some of the hatchlings made it. It would be a lifer.
