dery, it ain't my video!
Personally, I thought they broke every rule in ethics! I know that Field Herp Forum is split down the middle with pro-collectors and anti-collectors. I would like to think that every member here would be against this kind of behavior. I could be wrong.

Tearing up logs and collecting salamanders is definitely disturbing in my mind.
Those guys could care less about what they've done though.

Sweet! Now I know how to find salamanders. That should really come in handy here in Arizona. Too bad that tree didn't land on one of them.

I feel dumber for having watched that.
My thoughts???
It really bothered me how they brutally flipped those logs and just left them there. Then there was the shameless disregard for the animal as they tossed them into the tank. That video gets a big F from me.

I Hated both cursing and the breaking of all herping ethics as much as humanly possible. The swearing would
be hated less if there was less of it. I also curse sparingly if I feel something needs a powerful noun or adjective.Too much is both offensive and eventually boring and/or dead. So why tolerate such choice of words? Though like I said before The video quality was good, (better than mine). So I can't give negative reviews of that aspect.

Why didn't you say so the first time? You're always changing your position about things to fit how other people feel.dery wrote:

No other terrestrial vertebrates can be gathered up in such numbers, so effortlessly and crudely. No others besides herps.
I try to have an open mind when told by those more educated than I, that only numbers count, and that the numbers show in many cases that the impact of activities like this, is ecologically minimal or non existent.
But it does not seem irrational to me to adopt a more holistic view of impact, even though we do not yet have a scientific tool available, to measure or discern misery. Besides our own intelligence.

There are researchers in other disciplines that foster a true regard for the treatment and well being of artifacts, lost dialects, and mummified remains that could even be defined as compassion.
To include this in the consideration of living animals doesnt seem soft or anthropomorphic, it seems like a simple psychology of honor.

Speak for yourself there, buddy.Martti Niskanen wrote:Very difficult to masturbate to.
Nah, in all seriousness, those idiots really annoyed me. Right after they didn't roll that first log back over I kind of figured it was just gonna get worse and it did. The cursing didn't bother me. I curse all the time when I'm out in the field by myself or with other adults.
Re: Would like to hear your thoughts on this Video.
Yeah Beemaster the dirtbags in the video have no conscience. No one ever had to teach or even tell me to put it back the way I found it. I learned it on my own after rolling over that very first log in Harris County Texas, way back in 82. I have run across people like this many times in the field. Add that to habitat destruction, road kills, pollution, how they all manage to survive is beyond me.
