Hi Folks,
There was some confusion about the specimen shown below. I initially thought that it might be a sauritus but I did some more research and it looks like it's a sirtalis (no yellow band in front of eye and presence of vertical bars on face).
My question-does the tail of this specimen look longer than that of a typical garter?

It's a sirtalis, and no, the tail doesn't look unusually long for a snake right out of brumation. It's a little thin.

Be looking for a white pre-ocular scale and the lateral stripe a little higher for sauritus.
