Year in Review....kinda

Post by JakeScott » December 13th, 2014, 7:51 pm

These are just some of my favorite photos and animals of 2014. I thought I would share these instead of showing the whole 2014 year-in-review. They aren't all in the Southeast, but oh well, I don't feel like posting on the main forum.

I usually like to write a lot of narrative, but this one's for the photos. The photos are in order of when they were found this year, but that's it. The name of the herp will be below the image. I hope you enjoy.

Okay, this next one needs some explaining as to why I chose it. It shows the mortality of an animal that is extremely scarce in this part of Florida.

I got several lifers this year in Texas, but these next two photos are of my only lifer on the east coast. An awesome one at that.

Wow, sensory overload, Jake.
One is better than the next.

In what state did you find the Wood Turtle?
They've always been special to me since I grew up, as a kid, with them literally in my back yard!

Spotted turtles are scarce pretty much anywhere in Florida, aren't they? :(

Nice assortment of salamanders, especially the mud salamander. Urspelerpes is not bad either

Bill, literally in the backyard is pretty damn cool. This one was literally in my dad's backyard, in Maine. He has a fairly large yard, though.

Coluber, they certainly seem to be uncommon throughout. I guess I should have stated that.

That pink transpecos rat is still one of my favorite pics! Gorgeous animal. And any species of red or orange sally blows my mind! Great photos from a great year!

Very nice. Your pics always make me wish I got around more.

Which state were the muds from?

Also one of my favorites, Bree. Love those snakes.

The muds are from the Florida panhandle.

It is hard to pick a favorite. I think it might be the regina. They are like springs, once you curl them up they spring back. I'm guessing you have a trick or more patience than me to get them to sit still for you.
