ok i think you are correct im no frog expert but to us we really thought toad but looking up craugastor i believe your right thats what i like about this site thanks
It's a frog that is somewhat toad-like. All toads are frogs. "Toad" is generally used to describe frogs that have a certain appearance (stout, short-legged, warty) or frogs that are in the family Bufonidae (true toads). There are lots of frogs with "toad" in the common name that are not Bufonids.
There is a related species in Costa Rica, Craugastor rugosus, that is even more toad-like:
Another vote for C. megacephalus. It's a nice big female too. The males are not as mega. Super cool. I have seen a bunch of males, but I have only ever seen one big female. Impressive frogs for sure.
