I got bit by a ringneck earlier this year too. Surprised me quite a bit, I've been catching ringnecks for 30+ years and never saw one act aggressive

Did it actually open it's mouth or just shove it's nose into your hand?

when I got bit, it definately opened it's mouth, got me twice. I just got bit by a brown snake the other day, too. I think it was a very pregnant female, which may be why it was so cranky. Here's the Brown, I think this snake, for it's size, had the longest tongue ever

If this is an exclusive club, then I want to announce my membership. I was bit once by a ringneck and a few times have had them open their mouth when first picked up as if they were to try to bite.

Yeah. My son spotted it out the window in a tree as we were bumping along a dirt road. I jumped out, grabbed it and brought it in to show. We let it go a couple minutes later. (In the same tree.)
If it were in OZ, we'd probably still be there...

I appreciate the extreme aggression in neonate rat snakes and corns. That and the ultimate calm in giant mudsnakes, where one bite would most likely leave quite the impressive mark. They need a strong bite to deal with sirens!

I'm bumping this up because I got nailed by a queen snake today.
I've also been nipped by both southern ringnecks and rough greens...

Never been bit by a Ringneck, but I was bit by a 7' Coachwhip once, well several times. No really I was bit by a Queen Snake, it actually drew a little blood. It was a gravid female, but still a queen snake.

Out of the 100+ ringnecks I've handled only one ever bit, and he was ferocious!! I managed to squeeze a drop of blood out of his tiny teeth abrasions :P

You too? Glad I am not the only one. Also have been bit by D. fuscus and D. monticola one of the monticola was like 3 times.

Queens do not surprise me. I get bit all the time. Had one repeatedly bit my pant leg once, was the racer of queens.

And on topic. Only once by a ringneck.

id rather a ringneck than a vicious coachwhip....even rather a racer, coachwhips usually aim for the face!!! :o

Since this topic is still going on I'll add this from a couple weeks ago. It latched on while I was trying to pose it for photos. Took a couple minutes of just sitting there before it let go, there is no way I could have pulled it off without injuring it. Entertaining to say the least.

I recently found out ringnecks are venomous. (This was news to me.) You are all lucky you're not tiny slugs.
