I have found September to be an awesome month for finding herps, especially snakes. There's always a new batch of YOY, and the snakes in general seem to be more active with the shorter/cooler days (although, lately, the days haven't been much cooler!).
Here are some I have found so far this month:
Hatchling Eastern Hognose Snake - Heterodon platirhinos:

The squee continues -- Hatchling Eastern Milk Snake - Lampropeltis triangulum triangulum:

Adult L. t. triangulum ... I would love to see this one after it has finished shedding.

Sub-adult H. platirhinos - as found:

It did this for quite a while. Mike posted a video on YouTube, and you can hear me sounding rather dumb.

It was quite startled when it pulled out of the sand to see three humans (herper1 was visiting the area) watching:

YOY Eastern Garter Snake - Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis - trying to take on a large meal.

We passed the same little snake a while later, and it appears its efforts were successful:

YOY Northern Black Racer - Coluber constrictor constrictor:

I want to see the snakes you are finding in the NE this month!
