In a rainy-sunny day, 80 m slm , april 2016, southern Trentino region in North Italy
It was really microscopic, don't know how I could actually see it

Great find! Adorable little guy too!
Re: newborn Vipera aspis in northern Italy
Nice, I love aspis' canthus rostralis. Pretty little guy - do they turn tan as adults there, or do they stay that lovely pale grey?
Have you ever looked for ammodytes in Italy? The ground color can be similar to your asp's.
Is the geology right there all limestone/dolomoite/marble, or what?
thanks for an image of a species not seen much here
cheers

I've never looked for V. ammodytes, but I could, there is a very small "dot" population in the north part of my region, 2 hours by car, in a very restrict area!Jimi wrote:Nice, I love aspis' canthus rostralis. THe place you see in the picture i posted is 5 min by walk from Riva del Garda, a 16thousand inhabitant tourist town by the lake Garda..
I don't know the geology (I think the rocks are limestones) but the plants here are Quercus ilex , Ostrya carpinifolia, Fraxinus ornus and Pinus nigra .
Vipera aspis lives also higher in the montains near my area (Monte Baldo), 2000 m slm.
