Always vette your trainer and question their approach so it is acceptable. Your sister probably doesn't want her pup traumatized by the ordeal which I've heard can happen. Personally I wouldn't shock my dog, I'd keep her on a leash when in the field, in the right place I'll let her run though. I'd be more worried about other dogs, humans and the occasional lion but snakes happen. Oddly enough my girl got hit by a scorpion here at the house so go figure lol.
