I'm not 100% sure, this is a Wandering Garter Snake, right?

Thanks. For some reason the garter snake map I pulled up only showed the New Mexico Garter in that state. Lifer either way. Good times!

Were you in New Mexico or Colorado? Are you thinking of Mexican gartersnake or NEW mexican gartersnake?

You probably had a map of T. sirtalis. (At least I think that's the one I saw you post on Facebook). NM has quite the garter diversity:
