Hi, all.
I just moved to Claremont, CA and got myself a car. Wonder if there is any spot nearby ideal for herping. I am particularly interested in coastal mountain kingsnake(Lampropeltis zonata) and rosy boa (Charina trivirgata). Any suggestions? Is it too cold for snakes right now?
Help is greatly appreciated!

October can be tough. You may have better luck when the winter rains start, but you will be unlikely to find the snakes you mentioned until Spring. The best advice is to find canyons with permanent or semi-permanent water and do a lot of hiking in the Springtime. You will see snakes if you put in the effort.
