March for me

Post by Zombie_Kid »

I haven't posted yet so here you go. Just got a new camera as I destroyed my old one the night I went out for spring migration. The spotted salamander shot was the last that camera took. Really loving the new camera.

Good stuff Jeff. Your girlfriend is beating me in the wood turtle category.

Haha well I yanked it out of the bank for her. But she did find her first spotted after I got skunked all day, and I mean I searched all day. He was under a little bridge with a plank missing so he could hide, yet still get sun. I didn't believe her and shes like will you get the hell over here lol.

Wow, I wish I could find one spotted turtle in Central Maryland in my entire life. You found four at once! nice.

Lol I snagged them all in one basking spot. They were very sluggish as it was March 1. The only way to grab 4 at once now would be digging through the leaves/etc. They get so damn skittish so fast.

That one was from early March in Virginia and they were all hidden in the streams still. I'd expect them to start moving in the next 2 weeks hopefully. It was really really cold pulling them out lol.

Nice finds. Woods and spotties usually do not show up in VT until a little into April. I suspect this year they will be delayed a week or two.
