A neat oreganus.

Post by Chad M. Lane »

Nothing crazy just thought I'd post this neat oreganus spotted by Richard Porter the other day.

That reminds me of this helleri we found the other day:

The background color had an almost bronze sheen to it. Only too bad we couldn't get a head shot. We didn't want to bother the snake because she was found basking on top of one our boards and we'd like to see her there again.

What side of the mounyain was that found? It looks like it has some great basin influences too.

Nice one dude! You are referring to the blotches right? How the center is light and it has a darker ring around it? Reminds me of this one I flipped.

Nice face shot in that first pic Chad! Your camera really shows the fine detail and how pale white that snake was... nice head pattern too.

Here's a couple pics I got that day:

Another thing I want to point out about that pic that is interesting... you can see spit bubbles where the tounge meets the top lip. That shows they keep a little spit wad at the front of their mouths to keep their tongues wet when scenting the air. Again, cool pic :thumb:

That is a beautiful snake Chad (and everyone)! I'm waiting for Natalie to post her most recent oreganus shot. Hard to get bored of them, that's for sure. We were in the Eastern Sierra last week hopin to get a chance to see oreganus amongst other crotes, but we got chased back to AZ. by snow :(
