The totally unnecessary 100% snake, 100% in situ 2011 post

Post by azatrox »

As the title implies, the following photos comprise but a fraction of the snakes found at various times and in various places throughout 2011. Further, each one of these photos captures the in situ element of our passion/hobby/whatever, as each of these animals was photographed exactly as found. Enjoy.

Nice number of in situ shots Kris. Did you miss the Oxybelis aeneus situ shots, or is it that you've seen so many animals this year that you forgot about our slender tree creeper?

in situ photos are definitely my favorite! Thanks for sharing. The bull in the rocks is a one of a kind in my opinion.

Edited my post to add that this post is 100% Necessary.

Thanks Dell....I intended to include an in situ of that Oxy, but while I was downloading to Photobucket last night, that photo must have got lost in translation....By the time I was done downloading and resizing for this post, it was late and I was tired....

Thanks Cameron...Bull in the rocks? You may be referring to the cerberus at the water's edge....I really enjoyed finding that animal, as it snoozed away the day.

Cameron....Brain fart on my end....I know which pic you're referring to now...Yeah, that was a Sonoran gopher snake that was hanging out under a rocky overhang on a hillside....pretty cool to stumble upon that guy.

I'd like to point out that this post was indeed both completely unnecessary, and a very tasty treat. :P

Very cool, I think in situ is the best way to go because it shows the animal in its "natural" state (oh geez, I said THAT word) and most importantly to me, it puts me in mind of my own excitement when I walk up on an animal in situ.

Nice Crotes and stuff, Kris! While this post might be "unnecessary", it's openly welcomed! I mean, hell, look what you've done to Chad! He used the "N" word...
