Who knew Guns n Roses were singing about road cruisin salamanders?
Dusky (Fuscus?)
red back
southern zig zag
Not much, but I'll take anything this time of year. The red backs and zig zags are actually pretty rare in my neighborhood
I set up a motion sensor wildlife camera in my back yard and got some interesting shots, check it out, I got about 300 hundred shots of racoons, squirrels and possums. I'm amazed I am able to free range chickens and dwarf goats around here at all. I was also surprised to see bobcats in the middle of the day, I got a few other pics of them, all between 10 am and 5 pm
coyote
Bobcats (there's 2, look close)
Then there is beast, WTF
Looks like a wolf to me, my kids call it a "beardog" Any guesses?

Re: november rain
Great Mammal stuff. I'm gonna go with Coydog (Dog/Coyote hybrid) on the cryptid

Love those salamander photos. The motion sensor camera looks like a lot of fun.

Very cool photos. I agree with Josh. From what I know, F1 hybrids of dogs/coyotes are almost always black.

Re: november rain
Why y'all letting the red wolves loose?
j/k...looks like coy or pure coyote (thin jowls).

Re: november rain
Nice pics!
This is a coyote, looks like its pure according to the anatomy visible in the shots. The dark color is a melanistic trait. If you google black coyote, you'll see pics of other very dark coyotes. They are rare, but not unheard of.
Awesome capture! I have yet to see a live melanistic coyote. Hope to one day!
Love the shot of the 2 bobcats... such amazing camo!

As always, good stuff, Steve.
Truely is the redback season in the mountains.
Hope you can make it to the ENP in January.

Thanks Bill, as it stands now, I have to install a big aquarium that weekend. These people have rescheduled 3 times already, so I'm not sure if I'll be available or not yetBillMcGighan wrote:As always, good stuff, Steve.
