Hey everyone,
So, now it's time to kick off the new year with our South Florida Herp Socety BURM BASH on January 6, 7 and 8th: We enjoyed it so much last year that we decided to add an extra day onto the event. Here's the info on the event:
WHO: Everyone is invited, except those who cannot follow National Park Rules and Regs. For Non-members of the Herp Society, there is a (Minumum $10) suggested donation, and they will also have to fill out the information sheet (see link below) and email it back to me by JANUARY 2nd, so we can get ahead count of people attending. For MEMBERS attending, please just send me your name(s) so we can get a rough head count.
WHAT: Hiking for pythons and other snakes, as well as some other herping and time around the camp fire and whatnot.
WHERE: Everglades National Park, Pine Island Campground. Because this is an area where reservations are not permitted, this is subject to change. If this camping area if full, we will then move on to the Flamingo Camping Area.
WHEN: January 6 at around 5pm or later until morning/mid-day of January 8th. If you are planning on being there earlier than that PLEASE CONTACT ME, as I might have you hold some camp sites for us.
WHY: To have a fun time. Please note that only those covered by a Letter of Authorization (permit) will be able to handle burmese pythons in the park. That said, we should have several people coming with permits and even though handling of wildlife will not be allowed, it should still be a great time.
Just a reminder, this will be a BYOEverything event - We will not be providing food, tents, and whatnot - just a rough agenda and a lot of Everglades herping expertise.
REMEMBER: There will be no handling of wildlife/etc. inside the national park, and no collecting on this trip - if you can't handle this rule DO NOT COME.

Considering I just lost my job I'm tempted to go but I need to find another job ASAP. I could use a couple of days of herping though. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Well I just got paid, so I have the ability. Just it needs to be spent in a "better" way I'm told.
