Herp Smartphone App

Post by SaraSalamander » December 16th, 2011, 12:52 pm

Howdy All,

So I just joined the 21st century and got a smartphone. I've got an Android OS and am trying to find herpetology apps. Does anyone know of a herp guide to the US or OR or the NW for Android?

Thanks!

I really doubt it. Even the more-populated regions don't have app guides yet, and the northwest will probably be well behind the curve.

I was afraid that was the case. Seems like most apps are on phones right now.

there are apps for gps coordinates and elevation. And some phones have geotracking type apps for stamping your pics.

Search apple's app store for TX snakes. I think the author has also released Ok snakes.

I was a little disappointed with the Android dev environment (running it in CentOS) - it would not let me install any applications that were not part of the dev environment because the gmail account I was using to log into the app store wasn't tied to a phone.

Crap like that doesn't encourage developers, though it is better than what Apple does.
