Attempt to breed Anaxyrus terrestris

Post by simus343 »

Has anyone that uses these forums ever attempted and/or had success breeding Anaxyrus terrestris?
I am currently searching roads near my house at night for a female with an intent to breed the toads (I have a few males already). My reason is Heterodon platirhinos food. I am hoping that my H. platirhinos will lock up soon, if they have not already while I am away from home, and produce eggs. Hopefully I can have baby toads ready to go by then. I have experience swapping neonates over to mice, and I know that sometimes it just doesn't happen.
My goal, if breeding the Anaxyrus terrestris works out, is to raise as many as I can make survive to be a decent sized small toad and release a number back into the same area that I acquired the parent toads from (all within a mile of my house), and raise the others for Heterodon food.

If anyone here has had experience with breeding Anaxyrus terrestris and can give me some pointers, that would be fantastic, thanks! :D
