Hi all,
is this normal or a sign of a health problem? She seems super healthy otherwise. I have seen the blood the last 2 times she has shed. I have never seen it before.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

What do you mean exactly by bleeds?

Residual? On the shed? Little bloody dots on labials of actual animal freshly post shed?

Is this on the shed, or the mouth of animal?

Carpets are intelligent, explorative and assertive seekers of scope.

If what you are describing is a presentation of labial renewed open spots, it is a bit irregullar usually these press or rub areas present as very Pink, not bleeding but a shed can reopen sores.

I would check your temps thoroughly with a temp gun and not only Look - but run your fingers along the upper interior margins of enclosure for bad contact spots.

The bleeding seemed to start this time when she was trying to push her shed off of her head:

The temps in the cage have been perfect.

I have observed vascular flushing in snakes as they feed. And little micro dots of blood. I've seen it also in snakes when they extrude their cloacal lining, also a very vascular area.

It is peculiar to me that it is isolated to that one area. The mouth looks clean though, no ulcers or swelling or stringy secretion of infection.

Keep an eye out for impartial mouth closure, and watch him feed.

It's a great shot though, one couldn't ask for more.

It could just be benign and vascular from the strain and activity of jaws as he begins the headpiece.

There might be some extra blood activity there from multiple teeth dislodged prematurely from a vigorous feeding sieze.

I definitely wouldn't put anything in his mouth to 'treat it' at this point.

Thank you so much Kelly. I really value your thoughts at this point, mostly because you were spot on about my plated lizard last year. I haven't heard back from my vet at this point, but I sent him the same photo.

The vet is not concerned, but told me to keep an eye on her. Thanks again!
