A Riddle Just for Fun

Little round pellets all in a row,
wrapped in some kind of web.
Hanging from a line way up high,
am I alive or am I dead?
What is this mass of dangling pearls?
It's not from an oyster or a clam.
What's inside these balls of web?
Please tell me what and who I am.

Curse you Riddler. Gotham will be a far safer place when you are back in your cell at Arkham!

(I don't know the answer by the way)

The chained egg sacks of Mecynogea lemniscata.

The Basilica Orbweaver is named after the dome-shaped structure of its web, which resembles the domed ceilings of basilicas, which were administration buildings in ancient Rome.

The species name lemniscata refers to its hanging egg sacks, and comes from the Latin word lemiscus, which means ribbon.

For Rags:

*Edited to italicize Latin name*
