Can anyone recommend a good bat book or two (field guide)?
Thanks!

Re: Batty about books
I researched bat field guides last year and this is the book in my backpack when netting.
Peterson Field Guide to Mammals of North America: Fourth Edition (Peterson Field Guides)
Fiona Reid
The old version was good, I assume this is even better.
Bats of Texas (W. L. Moody Jr. Natural History Series) by Loren K. Ammerman Ph.D., Christine L. Hice Ph.D., Dr. David J. Schmidly Ph.D. and Carson Brown (Apr 25, 2012)
In Texas, I had this along just in case something odd showed up. Nothing ever did.
A Field Guide to the Mammals of Central America and Southeast Mexico
Fiona A. Reid
I also like this one,
Bats of Florida
by Cynthia S. Marks and George E. Marks (Sep 26, 2006)
This is NOT a useful field guide!
Bats of the United States and Canada
Michael J. Harvey (Author), J. Scott Altenbach (Author), Troy L. Best (Author)
The species descriptions are not useful in the field.

Re: Batty about books
I do not know if this helps you in your region but here is the book I use
http://www.amazon.com/Bats-Rocky-Mounta ... 0870817361
My book is sitting right there on the table during our annual bat surveys for the NPS, we also use quick reference flip charts and dichotomous keys for identification but they are state specific

Re: Batty about books
This is pretty crazy I was thinking today about posting a request for photos and hopefully whatever else anyone could input about bats of Pakistan.
